After our success at the wader site - seeing a good variety of waders and, according to Gary, 'some headless gulls', we drove to an estuary area for a seafood lunch. We were welcomed by our first Lomg tailed Macaques and very noisy Collared Kingfishers in the adjacent mangroves. Non breeding Brown headed Gulls were the conspicuous gull in the waters.
The lunch was excellent; deep fried mackeral, squid with the traditional lemon grass crab being voted meal of the day.
Post lunch we continued birding in a nearby Mangrove area. Noisy high school students and the timing allowed us to see only a few species but Indian White-eye, Yellow bellied Gerygone showed reasonably well. Mangrove Whistler was heard by everyone and seen by few. Common Iora and Black capped Kingfisher were also recorded.
An hour drive had us arriving at our hotel - Fisherman's Resort - where we had a too brief hour rest before heading out to our evening shows; number one - a mass exodus of Asian Wrinkle lipped Bats and attending raptors.
And number two - spotlighting for an Indian Nightjar.
